10 weeks already?!?

Its funny how time seemed to pass so slowly during pregnancy but is speeding by now – here we are already 10 weeks post-delivery! Time flies when you’re having fun with this little one 🙂
Here’s where things stand from a fitness perspective. I’m back to running and back to strength work again too. I’m currently running 4 days a week for 30 minutes at a time (all at a very easy pace), though will probably add in a fifth day soon. I haven’t done any other forms of cardio because I really missed running during pregnancy and only want to run at this point 🙂 I started getting back into strength work by doing some body weight only workouts and just started with weights again this past weekend. I’m purposely being a bit being overcautious in progressing my workouts to make sure my body is handling everything well after my surgeries in November. So far things are good – no discomfort where my c-section incision is, and I can feel my strength and endurance slowly returning. I still have quite a ways to go (the days when I used to run marathons and bike centuries seem like a lifetime ago), but I imagine I’ll get there again eventually. It’s true that your priorities change with kids and while being fit and healthy is still a top priority, competing in long-distance endurance events is on hold for now. Maybe I’ll feel ready this fall or maybe not, we’ll see…I may not be putting in big mileage anytime soon but I’m certainly going to be working on my speed when my body is ready.
