Week 33: Sleep, Swimsuits, and Scorpios

Less than 50 days to go! I hope the days pass quickly, but I suspect they won’t, especially at the very end :-/
New this week: my appetite has been waning a bit. I’m making sure I still eat my normal amount, but I’m not as hungry some days and nothing sounds appealing (even my beloved burgers!). My week of sleeping really well seems to have ended so I’m back to being up for an hour or two every time I wake up during the night. Oh well, the extra sleep was nice while it lasted! I’m also waking up VERY hot. I already keep the room at 68 degrees and have a fan on so there isn’t much more I can do without causing my husband to freeze to death. I went back to taking naps a few days this week. At least I always have a napping buddy.
In regards to workouts, things are still going well. I generally feel best when I’m working out – must be the endorphins. You think I’d feel the most awkward working out but I actually don’t, I just feel good. I was able to do 6 days of cardio and 3 days of strength training this week. I’ve also been going once a week to prenatal yoga. I’m still not a fan of yoga, but I’m hoping it’s useful during birth. I was having a hard time finding a maternity swimsuit that fit and didn’t look terrible, and thankfully I was able to find one this week (I had been wearing a normal suit when I was swimming outdoors in the summer). Here’s what I found in case anyone else is looking. I went with a tankini suit as the one-piece maternity suits were either way too big in the belly or too short in the torso. This one works perfectly!
This week we had our breastfeeding class. The class was a good introduction to breastfeeding, but as the instructor admitted, there is only so much she can teach us when we don’t actually have the baby yet. Like labor it seems that you can’t really predict how breastfeeding will go, you just need to hope for the best. Our baby classes are all done now, though I’ve still got several baby-related books I want to read in the next few weeks (maybe more than I realistically have time for). At least there’s one benefit that there’s still seven weeks left – more time to read!
Finally, I have to share the oddest baby-related comment someone said to me so far. A woman at the gym asked when the baby was due. When I said November 13, she said I should hope the baby is either early or late because otherwise she’ll be a scorpio. I’m not into astrology so I asked her what was wrong with being a scorpio, and she said “because scorpio’s can’t think of anything but sex.” No joke – she actually said that. How do you even respond to that??
