Week 35 and 36: Less Than a Month To Go!

How can time be passing so slowly, but I’m behind on my pregnancy updates?
It’s officially less than a month until my due date (Nov 13)! I’m fully expecting this to be the hardest of all the months. Already things are getting a bit more uncomfortable. Bending down is harder, sleeping is even more interrupted, and I’m always warm. At this point I can probably make it until my due date without needing a jacket – ha. I’ve also noticed some joint swelling, particularly in my knuckles and a little in my wrists. My fingers definitely feel stiff when I wake up in the morning, but it thankfully goes away once I’m up and moving. I seem to still be avoiding the major pregnancy pains like back pain and round ligament pain so I can’t complain too much. I keep fantasizing that maybe she’ll come a little early (likely not), but the thought that it *could* happen makes me happy 🙂
I’m still keeping up with my workouts. I find that I really do feel best when I’m moving so thankfully it isn’t a struggle to keep active. I’m still spinning and doing some walking on an incline, but I’ve really embraced swimming these last few weeks. I miss laying on my stomach so swimming freestyle is the closest I can get to that feeling now – ha! I almost had to stop swimming when I found out that my gym pool is closing for renovations until Nov 18 (our city public pool is closed for renovations until November as well), but I was able to find another near-by gym with a pool that was willing to let me join for just a month. I’m super thankful since I feel like most gyms require you to sign a contract for a minimum of one year or pay a big downpayment if you want to go month to month. I’m still keeping up the strength training as well – three days a week. It hasn’t gotten uncomfortable (though I’m sure I look funny doing it) so I plan to keep it up until the end.
We had a tour of the maternity ward of our hospital this week. It was helpful to get an idea of where to go, what we can expect, and what we need to bring. They really do a good job of trying to make it feel less “hospital-like” and more comfortable and cozy. Speaking of comfortable and cozy, we had our baby furniture delivered! We’re still working on putting up the decorations so the room isn’t photo-ready yet but will be soon. There was a bit of a debacle with the delivery which resulted in us getting the delivery fee refunded – the refund ended up more than covering my one-month second gym membership so it all worked out. It’s always nice when that happens 🙂
