Week 37: Full Term

(In my pregnancy fog I realized I forgot to publish this over a week ago when I wrote it…putting it up now mainly because I want to have a record to look back at one day! I’ll put up week 38 later today. Oops!)
This week simultaneously feels like a big moment but also anticlimactic. She’s full-term, but there’s still a lot of waiting to be done before she gets here!
At my last appointment the doctor confirmed she’s still head-down and positioned really low. He said “if she were any lower you’d be giving birth.” Ha! That was surprising at the time because I couldn’t really feel it, but I’ve started to feel it more the past few days. Other than that I’ve been feeling pretty good, just tired. Sleeping is my biggest complaint at this point. I wake up often, can’t get comfortable, and it takes a long time to fall back asleep. I want to catch up on sleep as much as possible before she comes, but unfortunately it’s not really working out that way. I also got my flu shot and Tdap shots this week per my OB’s recommendation. Why don’t they have a separate pertussis shot??? I had a tetanus shot just two years ago when I cut my shin on some metal so I really didn’t need another one, but you can only get the pertussis vaccine as part of the Tdap shot – which unfortunately includes the tetanus vaccine. The arm soreness from the tetanus vaccine really sucks!
Workouts are still going well. I still generally feel best when I’m moving so thankfully it isn’t hard to keep exercising. I took an extra rest day this week after a particularly poor night of sleep, otherwise I did five cardio sessions including spinning, walking on an incline, and swimming. I also did three strength training sessions. I have to confess that I fell off the prenatal yoga wagon again after being diligent about going for several week…oops. Any tips on how to enjoy yoga more???
I did a post earlier this week about how we set up the nursery. The owl tree on the wall behind the crib took FOREVER to put on the wall, but I love how it came out so it was worth the effort. It looks like it’s painted on, but it’s really just removeable stickers. I still have to put away her clothes and organize her closet, but otherwise her room is ready! The other remaining things we need to do are install the car seat and pack a hospital bag.
Have a great weekend!
